McDonalds Cheeseburger Soup
In this day and age, there is a war against fast food. I don’t eat it often and prefer home cooked to eating out but…
I do like McDonald’s Cheeseburgers a lot. If you do too, this is a killer simple recipe for you that tastes just like those unhealthy nuggets of love on bread. Usually you can substitute or tweak recipes. That is not the case with this one. If you want your soup to taste just like the golden arch burgers, follow the recipe exactly. There are only 7 ingredients.
Ingredients:
1 lb Velveeta
1 lb Ground burger (NOT THE LEAN HEALTHY STUFF)
2 cups Milk
1 Bunch (1/2 cup) FINE Chopped green onion (only the white part) or 1/3 cup white onion
1/4 cup Ketchup (Most will do but HEINZ works the best)
1/4 cup YELLOW (YELLOW ONLY) Mustard
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt & Pepper to taste – AFTER you cook the meal
Directions:
- Cube Velveeta right after removing from the fridge (makes it easier if you let it sit on the counter to soften while you complete the next step)
- Brown ground beef in skillet – KEEP the GREASE
- Pour Milk into 3 quart or (larger) pot then stir in Velveeta cubes on low heat. Not all at once or you will create cement
- Add Ground Beef (WITH grease) to pot and all other ingredients and stir until homogenous.
If you want a thinner mixture you can now add a little more milk and the condiments (Ketchup\Mustard\Worcestershire\Onion)to bring back the flavor, if diluted from the milk.
You can either serve in small bowls or tear out the center of a Tuscan Boule or (similar bread) to make a bread bowl, tear up the pieces that you remove for scooping up the awesomeness. This is how we do it.
You can also throw a dill pickle chip or three for garnish in the center of the bowl. One of these days I want to try a tiny bit of dill weed to the mix to increase pickle flavor with white vinegar or maybe a little pickle juice.
Hmmm..maybe some bacon….
Sure this will clog your arteries but you won’t have to visit a dirty Mickey “D’s” yo get the same flavor. The perfect tailgate recipe!
